Obverse 3: Used on all Australian pennies at Melbourne and Perth mints from 1938 to 1948.

156 rim denticles.

Obverse 4: Used on Pennies struck at Bombay for 1942 and 1943.

The mintmark I is usually present under the King's bust.

145 rim denticles

Obverse 5: IND:IMP. was deleted from the legend and F:D: was replaced with FIDEI DEF. on this obverse.

Used on coins struck from 1949 to 1952 from Melbourne, Perth and London mints.

155 rim denticles.

Reverse D: (Melbourne) Used on all Melbourne and Perth pennies from 1938 to 1952 and later years also.

The P in PENNY and U in AUSTRALIA point to thick denticles while the Y, I and A point to the thin ones.

There are 81 of each denticle.

Reverse E: (Bombay 42) Used to strike coins at Bombay for 1942 and a small amount of 1943 coins, making the 1943 issue scarce with this reverse.

The P and Y in Penny point to a thick denticle.

Dots before and after Penny are present. The denticles are taller and there are 77 of each.

Reverse F: (Bombay 43) Used for most of the 1943 Bombay coins, this reverse is pretty much identical to reverse E although the denticles are shorter like the  D reverse.

The dots are still before and after the word PENNY.

Reverse G: Similar to reverse D but the P in Penny now points to a thin denticle while the L and I in Australia point to a thick one. Used in 1951 and 1952 and later coins.
